Tea Building
History: 1970s and 1980s
Shoreditch had fallen upon hard times by the 1970s (Image: Cheshire Street, Jan 1973) and Allied Suppliers/Lipton Ltd, who'd occupied the site since it opened in the thirties, vacated the building.
Securicor stepped in and used it as a warehouse storage facility and the name changed to Centric House. But Shoreditch came roaring back in the 1980s as service industries began taking over industrial warehouses, kick-starting a local renaissance that's still going strong.
